Ho there,

is there a way to log what email messages get rejected after enabling DNSBL in Sendmail?

I checked /var/log/maillog but it only tells the server's IP address which the mail was coming from.

I need to know what email address it was meant to be for and from what email address it was coming; sometimes in fact, valid messages are sent through listed servers and sendmail just rejects them.

Thanks a lot

I haven't run Sendmail in years, but I'm sure it runs similarly to postfix.

Since the rejection is based on IP address and that is known as soon as the connection is made, postfix doesn't allow the mail transaction to get as far as the RCPT exchange before it rejects it, so there's no way to know who the mail was supposed to be to.

thanks guys,

not quite the answer I was waiting for, but it makes sense.

Thanks a lot
