Hi

Please how long can a secondary server continue to run if the primary server goes down?

Thanks

If in Windows 2000, forever. DNS's don't work as Primary or Secondary.. those things are configured on the client side. DNS (if configured properly) will synchronize with each other... so if one goes down, you'll get an error logged in your DNS log file, but it will still work none the less.

Thats correct, it all depends on the isp or server you are connecting to that is using said dns servers.
I.E. If connected to an isp you would normally have 2 DNS servers if one fails then the other one would be the active DNS server.
However if connected to a private server then you would only have the amount of available DNS servers to you that are recognized by the private server. If 3 DNS servers are setup then you could have 2 fail and the 3rd would be the active(or default DNS) until it is told otherwise by a user...or admin.
