Hello,

Just added an Apple server to our predominate windows network. Everything is working ok, I can ping the apple server by DNS name successfully. Objective: I need to add the suffix http: to the apple server in DNS for an application to run (example

http://jdc-apple-srv).

The application needs to point to this particular Apple server, but it requires http: in front of the name. How do you configure this in DNS. Please advise, thank you so much for your help!

Http is a an application protocol (used to access web servers listening on port 80) and not part of a hostname. If your Apple server already has a webserver installed (ex Apache), the it can be accessed using either the IP or the DNS name assigned to it (like u indicated http:/jdc-apple-srv.<DNS domain>.<DNS suffix>. If you don't have a webserver installed, the server cannot be accessed using http
