Hi,

I am well aware of the need for DNS servers on the internet for resolution etc, but I am always seeing posts regarding DNS servers within a companies Network. Please do not think me dense but why ? :)

Is it due to the size of the company, and a DNS is required for Workstation resolution ?

How else would you resolve names for devices inside your network? Servers, Routers, internal WEB pages? Todd VanDerwerken, CCNA, CCDA

Hmm, I've never thought about it too deeply, what with all the computers on the network being under the same workgroup. We dont have a DNS server but names are resolved.

You probably use WINS, right?
Same thing, WINS does a DNS function Todd VanDerwerken, CCNA, CCDA
