I am not running my own DNS. Do I have to add an entry for each virtual host or will Apache sort it out? Also, what do I have to do with DNS for email...

Thanks.

Your registrar or whoever handles your DNS record should allow you to edit it either directly or via some type of form . You will need to add all the virtual hosts as well as the 'MX' record for mail if you plan on running your own mail server. I am registered through Network Solutions but it took 48 to 72 hours for any updates to take effect. I switched to a free dns service called Zone Edit at now I can make changes to my heart's content and it takes effect immediately. If you plan on making a lot of changes (adding and deleting vhosts), you might want to look for a service that lets you handle your own dns records.

What should have for my MX settings then? I am using mydomain.com which is also a free service.

The two records are currently set at:

MX1: mail.vhost1.com (distance 0)

and

MX1: mail.vhost2.com (distance 0)

Is that right?

Zone Edit uses a different format for setting up records so I won't be able to help you much there but here's what needs to be done. It looks like each vhost will have it's own mail server so in addition to the vhost having an 'A' record, so does each mail server. Then you need to set up an 'MX' record for each mail server. The vhosts can share their IPs with their mail servers. I hope I didn't add to the confusion.)
