I am not sure if this is the right place for this question but does anyone know where i can get the source code for a DNS Server? I am thinking about creating a customizable one for myself.

It's called the HOSTS file. On Windows 95/98 it's located in the WINDOWS directory. On NT it in WINNT\System32\Drivers\Etc. Why the two totally different locations was used is beyond me. Most of the time you'll see them with the .SAM (Sample) extension. Remove the .SAM from the end of the file.

To test this out, enter a host name following the format of the file. Then ping by the host name. You'll see that it works. Snaggs
