I need some help. I have looked up on the Symantec tech support and on firetower trying to figure out what I need to do to setup reverse lookup on my firewall.

I have a raptor firewall/6.5.2/Nt4.0. I have tried everything I can think of but when I go out and do a nslookup from the internet, I do not get the associated PTR or Host name for my firewall or domain.

If anyone has any ideas, it would be much appreciated.

The reverse lookups that the firewall does are on incoming traffic coming into the firewall. It is not providing reverse DNS to the world for your firewall's address.

I have contacted my ISP and am going to talk to them and see what they have setup. I believe that is where the problem is coming from. Will let you know when I get an answer.

Thanks

I have contacted my ISP. Unfortunately am not getting a response. Can someone tell me how to setup Reverse DNS on a Raptor Firewall 6.5.2 running on NT4.0? I have tried everything that I can think of and like all good help desks Symantec's has nothing in its support site. I have also tried Firetower.com and its archive stinks.

Thanks for any information.

You can't. It is not a DNS server. Its a firewall. If you tried to install a DNS server, the firewall would kill it as a rogue process.

This makes me think that I have to get my ISP to setup the Reverse DNS for me. Let me know if I am correct or not. If correct, then will see if I can get may ISP to do some work.

Thanks for your help.

Normally your ISP 'would' do the reverse DNS. It's their ip block and they should be doing the reverse.

I contacted my ISP and now it works.

Thanks for all the help
