i have a sharepoint site just built, using WSS 3.0 with all technical refreshes installed, .net 3.x, etc, etc.

works great when on that machine.
When try to use it externally, it works on some pages and not others. For example, i can add a folder, but when i got to add a file i get page not found.

What i noticed is that when i first get into system it shows me http:\\10.10.10.1:999\myCompany\default.aspx
when i add a folder, no problem.
When i try to add a file, the above IP then changes to the internal dns name of http:\\mypc.mydomain.com:9999\.....

i've been fighting this for weeks now, usre has to do with a DNS issue, any help would be appreciated.

Go look at the Central Admin page and add a link to the extended mappings. So that when it tries to point to your server that it's actually getting the domain name.
