Is it possible to configure XP, in conjunction with a VPN client that allows split tunneling...

to use an external web DNS server for all DNS requests except any for (domain.local.com).

I know it's a lot easier to not allow the split tunneling or just point all DNS to the internal DNS server but it's much mroe complicated than that.

Thanks.

Hi

I am going to assume that you are remote pc accessing a server/router using a VPN connection and that you are unable to browse the internet while the connection is made.

If this is correct you need to go to "Network connections" in control panel, right click on the VPN connection you are using and left click properties.

Now goto the "networking" tab at the top and double click on "internet protocol TCP/IP", then click on the "advanced" button.

Finally you will see a tickbox labelled "use default gateway on remote network" untick this and you should then be able to access both the internal VPN network and the internet at the same time.

Hope this helps

Mark
