I have two domain trees in the same forest. The first domain is called PROV and the second domain is called NORTHPROV. DNS is installed on all DC's. Everything is working fine except when i'm on the NORTHPROV domain and I try to ping the PROV domain it resolves to a workstation IP address at a remote location. When i ping NORTHPROV from PROV the name resolution is fine. I looked at my DNS server on the NORTHPROV side and cleared and rebuilt zones. I'm not sure why it would resolve to a workstation IP addy. when i ping PROV it should resolve to my Domain Controller of (172.18.1.100 or 172.18.1.101) but it resolves to 10.10.4.27. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Do you have a hosts file on the DC in the problem domain? Maybe it has an incorrect entry.

start>run>ipconfig /all

what are your DNS servers in this list?

If receiving your DNS servers from DHCP, what is DHCP handing out in the options?

Start, Help. You'll be surprised what's there. A+/MCP/MCSE/MCDBA
