Hi All,
I have the following setup :
I have one linuxbox with a static IP on the net, and one domain that is pointing onto the machine. I have configured sendmail and now here is my problem:

When I try to send an email to username@ip_address it works,
but when I try to send email to username@domain.ch I get the following failed mail reply :

Failed address: mipam@moudry.ch

--- Session Transcript ---
MX-record resolution of [domain.ch] in progress (DNS Server: 212.254.233.15)...
Name server has no records of the requested type for that domain.
Attempting SMTP connection to [domain.ch: 25]
A-record resolution of [domain.ch] in progress (DNS Server: 212.254.233.15)...
Name server has no records of the requested type for that domain.
This message is 4 days old; it has 0 days left to get delivered
--- End Transcript ---

I tried then to send email to username@ and it worked fine again.

Please anybody help me.

Also, here is the source of an email message that was sent from the box :

Helloo World

Do you have an "MX" record on the server that holds your DNS records? You need to create a dns "A" record that points mail.yourdomain.com to your IP just linke you did for your domain. Then you need to create an "MX" record saying that mail.yourdomain.com handles mail for yourdomain.com. This is done a little differently depending on your registrar or dns service.

1. Checkout the name resolution order on your server (/etc/nsswitch.conf file)
2. U must hav a MX record on a public DNS in order to send mail out to public network. - Hemant
