I really need help with this. First problem is I'm brand new to Windows 2000 server. I have the basics up and running but I wanna know how to set up the server so that the clients I have under my domain can type in some DNS name like Cheesecake into a web Browser and get taken to a corresponding IP address. Right now my domain name is enigma.org, my computer, which is running the server is kakarotto, I wanna be able to type in kakarotto.enigma.org into a web browser and have my computer pop up for my clients and other domain users on the LAN.

Second question is the SOCKS4 proxy. Our school is using a WinSock Proxy 4. When Users log onto my domain certain restrictions are placed on myself and my clients such as yahoo games and certain FTP sites. Before I switched over to 2000 server I was under our schools main domain and we had to run Proxy Client 2.0 to fix this firewall problem. Since I am now a domain and not a client how do I resolve this problem?

I apologize if I'm using the wrong words for stuff. I'm primarily a programmer and have never operated a server before. My technical jargon for this is lacking ;-)

Any help you can offer me is appreciated. If you happen to use MSN messenger this email address is my chat address I can be reached from.

I can help you with the host name. If you are running WINS on 2000 Server, create a static entry in the Wins list in which you name the host and it's ip on the local network. This will utilize the Netbios names on the local subnet only. The clients must be all Windows Clients.
