DNS request not supported by name server

whenever i try to install Active Directory, i get all the way through the setup and when i start the install it gives me this error "DNS request not supported by name server" i've done this many times and don't know why this would come up all of the sudden. I really havent made any changes since the initial install on Windows 2000 Advanced Server.

You did remember to be hooked to at least one networked PC while doing the setup?

yea, i have 3 pc's om my workgroup now that all see each other, I'm trying to add a Domain controller to sdd users and set access rihts.
