Is it possible to do a dns redirect?

I'm hosting a website that found a new host and has a new site up, but the site has switched owners a couple times and they have lost their registrar account info to update the nameservers. So while they are doing the paperwork to validate site's ownership with the registrar, I need to set up a DNS redirect if possible to their new site hosted elsewhere. The need to do this because we just put our old webserver behind our firewall and you can't access their site from the internet.

So, is it possible to redirect a url to another url using DNS?

I'm running win2003

Thanks

I don't know about doing this with DNS, but have you looked at mod_proxy, assuming of course that you are running Apache for your web server.

That would allow you to redirect.

You could also use mod_rewrite, though I think the proxy would be invisible to your users.

ISA can, if I remember right. To redirect a website, or specifically the IP address, yes you can change it internally, but know that all persons who want to reach the site will be forced to go where you modified it within DNS.

Just modify the host Record and test it. If it fails, change it or delete it. It only takes about 3 minutes to adjust if testing fails...
