Hi there,

I have a really annoying/strange problem with a DNS record.

We have a new server (created in VMWare) that has been set a static IP address of 172.16.1.x

The dns record was created on our DC.

Every other day this record changes the IP address to a different one on our DHCP range. I keep having to manually edit the record to make it right again.

Is there anything I can do here?

Thanks,
Ross

Hi All,

Is there a way to alias an IP to a local LAN IP? Maybe using LMHOSTS?

For example, if I wanted all traffic at this address to be redirected at this address how would I do it????

TIA

Is the IP address set on the VM server or via reservation?

Ooops! please ignore my posts on these threads. :(

Is there another system on the network with the same name?

Does this machine have multiple NIC's? Perhaps the other NIC is still enabled/disconfigured.
