Hi.
I've learned some DNS details using the configuration which is not done by me but working one.
Let's assume it is linux Redhat.
Part of the /etc/named.conf contains:
options
{
..
..
forward only;
forwarders { XX.YY.ZZ.AA }
..
..
;};
As far as I understand it means that role of my dns server is forwarder dns and every request should go to XX.YY.ZZ.AA.
Now. The question is whether the rest of configuration is taken in use? I mean zone's staff and corresponding configuration.
The case is now that IP adresses of forwarders are not reacheable when trying to ping them.
I believe it is / (it must be) because when I use nslookup for any host in network I get the proper response with corresponding IP.
How or better to ask - why names are resolved properly then when I use nslookup?
