I'm running Windows Vista on a small home office network. I like to check out the news sites, but sometimes find that they can't be found. Reseting the LAN adaptor, rebooting or just waiting 15 mins or so seems to find the sites are visible again.

So could it be a DNS problem on my Vista machine, my Small Business Server or my ADSL router. Or could my ISP be to blame.

Where do I look for a solution.

By the way I also use VMware workstation a lot and it's created a couple of bridged connections. Could they be causing a problem?

When the website is not found, try pinging it by name.
If ping shows an IP and responses, you've probably got a browser issue.
If ping shows an IP but no responses, DNS is working but the route to the website is not.
If ping cannot find an IP, then you have DNS problems.

are there multiple NICs on the system? This is a typical problem when binding orders are out of wack due to multihoming...hit or miss communications...
Remember, multihoming DOES include a physical adapter and wireless adapter in the same system. If you are on the wire, and wireless is bound first, communications could fail (most succeed, occasional drops when other interface is tried due to being top in bindings)...and vice versa....

I would try the tests given above though first for sure....
