Over the weekend we changed the IP schema on our entire network (different IP’s and subnet for all PC’s and servers) Everything seamed to be working ok until today. None of the servers or workstations can see the domain (by browsing My Network Places\Microsoft Windows Network)

DNS seams to be working fine on the DC’s, I can add PC’s the Domain, all the computers have access to network file servers, email, etc. However, the Net View command will not work on any PC or server and the Messenger service will not start on any of the DC’s and the worst problem (so far) is that my backup server can’t backup data on other servers because it cannot see the network.

I did notice that when I changed the IP on the 2 DC’s, I got a warning saying that the name of the machine was already in use on the network. Both DC’s have only one NIC enabled and only IP and not names where changed.

This is probably a DNS issue and I am sure that to get an answer I will have to answer some questions but any help would be greatly appreciated

on the dns server, if you do a net view, what are the results ??

are you suing dhcp ??

Many Thanks

one tells me that "ther are no entries on the list" and the other shows all the systems on the network.

No DHCP

so i take it that you have two dns servers, ok..

so on the one that is showing the other clients, what are the dns settings for that server, and is the dns settings the dns on the other server the same or not..

Many Thanks

I finally figured out, they had 4 WINS servers(????) I changed WINS IP's and it all started to work fine after rebooting the servers.

Thanks for your help.
