ok i have formated my workstation and reloaded xp pro with sp2 on it using a dell cd. when i added it to the domain and looked in DNS it didnt create a host record it created a DNS Domain under the primary domain (instead of an a record when your looking under the primary domain the computer has a folder and its host record is in it). I also just added another member server to the domain and its doing the same thing. They are both making folders for themselves instead of creating an "A" record under the primary domain.

What is going on here?

Is the DNS suffix your DHCP server is supplying correct?

all my desktops and servers are static ips. All the laptops and other devices use DHCP. Ive never had this problem before where instead of creating their own "A" record they create a DNS domain in the primary domain. Also if i try and make them an "A" record and refresh it after i make them one it turns into a DNS domain folder and puts their "A" record in there.
