First off...my network is working properly. I can ping IP addresses but can not reach their fully qualified name. I went into SAM and made sure a DNS server is listed and made sure the /etc/resolv.conf's syntax is correct. But no luck. I have installed a good hundred or more machines all the same, but this one is giving me a headache. I believe I have all the latest patches installed. Any ideas what's the next step to take.

Did you check your /etc/nsswitch.conf file.
hosts dns files

What is the output of nslookup systemname? please paste o/p

My /etc/nsswitch.conf was messed up. After correcting it...DNS is working as it should.

Thanks.
