Hi
I have been testing our DNS using the gethost tool. However, if I enter "gethost mf" (where mf does not exist on our network) I get a long delay. This is running on a very small private development network (3 nodes) so i was expecting it to respond immediately. I have removed all entries from the cache.dns file as it is a private network but it made no difference.

Does anyone have any idea if this delay is normal or is it timingout due to a miss configuration?

I would guess that this is a 90 second delay? Sounds like something you can get rid of by modifying your nsswitch.conf file Mike
