DNS (or other name service) cache?

I am not sure if it is a hp-ux question or a networker issue...

We see poor networker backup performance and we see many DNS requests about our backup clients in the named logfiles.

Does hpux chache any DNS (or other name services request) answers somewhere? I know there is a nscd in Solaris, but is there any similar daemon/cache in hpux?

We decided to add all backup clients to /etc/hosts; this works fine, but this is not really a solution, it's a workaround.
We are running the Lucent named on the same machine, does this have any impact (meaning this host is DNS server and DNS client)? It might be (if there is a hpux cache) a misconfigured legato installation, but this would be another thread in another forum...

just received some feedback from the networker side, guessing it is NOT a networker issue

Any ideas?

just received a message from hp: there is no DNS (or other name services) cache in hp-ux by default. You could set up a named on your local system, which works as a cache (TTL), you need to change the resolv.conf to lookup any host from the local named
