If a client computer is set to "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically", then it cannot find any public web site by it's URL. However, it can find it using it's IP address.

Clearly, the SBS DNS server is not working properly.

We can solve this by changing to "Use the following DNS server addresses" and adding the DNS server of our ISP.

The DNS server is certainly running and I can see no obvious differences with another 2003 SBS set up and there are no recent errors in the DNS event log.

Any ideas on how I might try and solve this? Thanks.

I think I may have solved the problem.

I have checked the Forwarders in the properties of the DNS server and they cannot be reached. I think our ISP changed their DNS servers a while back and I am pretty sure we didn't update the addresses.

I will do some checks later but assuming the ISP DNS server change is the source of the problem, is making the change mentioned above the only place to consider in 2003 SBS?

Thanks.
