I'm having an issue entering an A record to my DNS server.
Lets call this domain DOMAIN.COM
In the DOMAIN.COM folder in NT4 DNS Manager I click NEW RECORD and enter a new 'A' record for the name of this DNS server. We will call it NS.
Now when I go back to DNS manager and look at the 'A' record inside DOMAIN.COM I do notice it in there, BUT -- I also notice a FOLDER under the DOMAIN.COM. It looks like it made a sub-domain under DOMAIN.COM called NS.
On this DNS Server called NS, I have the following configuration set. On TCP/IP Properties on the DNS TAB I have:
HOST NAME: NS
DOMAIN: DOMAIN.COM
DOMAIN SUFFIX SEARCH ORDER: DOMAIN.COM
If I delete the FOLDER NS, then the name record for NS inside DOMAIN.COM also disappears. I re-enter the 'A' record again for NS and the folder returns. However I did add an 'A' record inside DOMAIN.COM for my secondary DNS server of NS2 and that did not make a directory, it worked fine.
Perhaps I'm doing something wrong or over looking something else.
