I have just recently loaded AIX 4.3.3 on a Series F50 box.
It appears that I have configured the interface correctly with the proper IP, subnet mask, gateway and the two DNS. But when I try to ping the gateway...I get nothing. when I run nslookup I get 'Can't find server name for address (IP of first DNS Server): No response from server' and this same error I get when it tries for the second DNS server.
The DNS servers are running so I know that this is not the case.
What I have been told is that this site uses 1/2 duplex as well so the interface is set to 'full duplex = no'
Is there something that I am missing in order for this box to get working?
/etc/netsvc.conf? and if so explain what exactly needs to go in that file if needed? Any information would be great. Details to matter.

Hi,

If you can ping ANY machine on your net - then your network card setting is ok.

If not - try using "autonegotiatition" to start with,so that you can reach the stage that you can ping.

Later on set the network board to the same setting as the port on the switch.

Check also for ent errors in "errpt". "Long live king Moshiach !"

I can not ping ANYTHING on this network.
When you say use 'autonegotition' do you mean in this manner?
#ifconfig [interface name] (en0 for example) down

#chdev -l [interface name] (ent0 for example) -a media_speed=auto_negotiate

#ifconfig [interface name] (en0 for example) up

or is it something else?

When I checked the errpt...there is no mention of any ent errors
