I'm running DNS server on an NT4 SP5 pc.

I keep getting a warning message:

Event ID 601, DNS server has encountered a bad packet from 213.171.193.249. Packet processing leads beyond packet length.

I'm not sure if this has anything to do with DNS crashing but I would like to sort it. Along with any suggestions to my DNS problem.

Thanks

Is 213.171.193.249 part of your network? If it is, is it also a DNS server? Are zone transfers set up to that DNS server (if it is one).

If 213.171.193.249 is not on your network, then block traffic from that IP. Is this DNS server sitting on the internet? If so, put it behind a firewall.
