I'm having an odd problem, this just started today even though everything has been running fine.

I can not access one of my servers from my DC using the name of the computer. I can access the server from any other computer on the network using it's name. If I ping by name on the DC it gives me the wrong IP for that server, however if I ping from another computer in the domain it gives me the correct IP.

From the DC I can connect to the server if I use it's right IP address instead of it's name.

Seems like a DNS issue to me but I'm not sure why all the other computers see the server correctly and only my main DC does not. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Assuming that your server is configured only with local DNS on the NIC and that your DNS server lists your ISP DNS in the forwarders, I would recommend runnign the following from the machine unable to resolve correctly.

ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /registerdns

I hope you find this post helpful.

Regards,

Mark
