I have one single site that our novell dns server is not resolving. When i try to ping it by name from the server i get this message in return "Could not understand "site" as a host name or address. Please make sure NETDB.NLM is loaded and SYS:\ETC|RESOLV.CFG is configured correctly." Nothing has changed on the server and it suddenly started doing it today. The site is our companies homepage. I also might add that i can ping it from our router that provides internet access to our company. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

When you say you can ping it from your router, I am going to assume that means you can ping it by host name from the router.

Does your internal DNS server host a zone named the same as your external DNS domain name and setup as a primary?
- if it configured as a primary, you will need to add the host name for your external web site to your internal DNS server.

Do you have a forward configured for your DNS server?
(not needed in 6.5)

Have you tried clearing the DNS cache?
-named -pa

Yes we have a zone named the same as our external dns domain name and it is a primary. I also have a forward setup. I figured it out. I simply deleted its a record and recreated and away it went. Weird but it worked. I appreciate your reply. I am working on learning a little more about dns. Thanks again
