DNS issue, please give your thoughts.

Hi all,

i am hosting my own website and have sorted most of my problems out but i thought that all you would need to view my site would be

http://www.mydomain.com

but i can only view the site if you type

http://www.mydomain.com/index.html.

any ideas? have i missed missed somthing somwhere????

thans for all your input i have learned so much over the passed couple of days and if it was not for forums like this i would have taken a lot longer.

It's not a DNS issue. It's a web server issue. It should be configured to serve index.html pages as default.
