DNS issue - I can receive but not send

I am able to receive mail to the server, but I cannot send email.
When I look at the maillog I see a "no route to host" error. The same message has teh IP address of the mail server that tis the destination address. If I use nslookup, I can see the IP address for the MX record for the destination mail server.

Why is sendmail not seeing the destination address as a reachable location?
