Hello all...

I use the unmentionable *cough* cough godaddy for my dns/web hosting but we also have a few servers in the office. I would like to create a subdomain for that and use our name servers to cover it.

Would I just add that NS to the godaddy name servers and create a new forward lookup zone locally? Or are there some hosts and what not to create as well?

Thanks
Travis

I may be wrong, but I think you would want to set up the godaddy to forward the subdomain to your name server. The reason being, you are then in control of it locally. Then you would need to configure the local name server to be authoritative for the (sub) domain.

The more I think about it, if the sub domain attached devices are on private IPs, this may be the only way to handle it as godaddy would not be able to fully resolve these addresses.
