DNS Hosts

Hello, Looking at the DNS server I can see there are many workststion records that need to be removed as they no longer exist as host names. Performing a basic NSLookup throws up the old DNS record in most cases. I would like to start fresh and get rid of all unused/old records. Is there a fast and safe way of doing so?
