I am wanting to use forwarding DNS on my w2k server and I noticed the forwaring option is not able to be checked to do so. I installed DNS upon dcpromo install. Does anyone know what might be wrong?
All I am running is w2k server with A/D and a single xp workstation that I will eventually use routing and remote access for to access the Internet.

It sounds like the server is configured as a root server. In DNS manager expand the forward lookup zones folder, if there's a '.' zone within it then delete it.

It's one of Win2K's annoying defaults, it assumes it's the root server, which is usually fine until you want to connect to the Internet. A root server is the top level and therefore can't forward.
