Hi,

We run one Windows 2000 Domain controller,
it appears to be working OK at the moment
but the event log for DNS has loads of this
error in it & id like to know what it is and
how to solve it, before it actually becomes a problem.

"The DNS server was unable to add or write an update of domain name server1 in zone headoffice.local to the Active Directory. Check that the Active Directory is functioning properly and add or update this domain name using the DNS console. The event data contains the error."

Thanks

What is the Event ID and what is the error code, this is normally the last set of numbers in the data window at the bottom.

Check the DNS zone / properties and see if you have Updates set to yes ( or yes secure).
Have you DHCP server there too?
