DNS ERRORS ON IE6

I have a client computer on my network (windows 2000 server, Cisco fast ethernet switch) with XP Pro. I can ping out to websites, domain, network, but I still am receiving DNS errors on IE6. DHCP is enabled.. Anyone with any suggestions. I can plug that ethernet cable into the client machine next to it and browse.??? All security settings are correct, Have installed and uninstalled sp6.
Compatability issues with XP Pro and MS Win 2000 server?

Thank you for the response I have repaired the problem. It turn out to be a conflict between Norton anti virus and Sp2.
