I want to create a new name record for our website so that users can type ourdomain.com without " Is it me or does Windows' DNS kind of suck for this? Thanks in advance.

OK. On our windows server I've got a forward lookup zone named ourdomain.com. Inside that zone are our mail servers, ftp & etc. There is now an alias for I'm still confused as to how I can get ourdomain.com to resolve the same as nslookups against ourdomain.com still doesn't resolve to an IP:

Windows IP Configuration

Successfully flushed the DNS Resolver Cache.

C:\Users\username>nslookup
Default Server: dns1.ourdomain.net
Address: 192.168.0.3

> Server: dns1.ourdomain.net
Address: 192.168.0.3

Name: Address: x.x.x.x

> ourdomain.org
Server: dns1.ourdomain.net
Address: x.x.x.x

Name: ourdomain.org

There must still be something wrong in the setup. The is resolving, but ourdomain.net is not.
Can you post the DNS config file?

Here is a printout from mine.

debian.lan IN SOA server.debian.lan. (
2008080235 ; serial
4800 ; refresh (1 hour 20 minutes)
86400 ; retry (1 day)
2419200 ; expire (4 weeks)
604800 ; minimum (1 week)
)
NS server.debian.lan.
A 192.168.0.49
main A 192.168.0.50
www CNAME main

As you can see, I have a system called main at 192.168.0.50 and it has an alias to it called www. If I do an NS lookup on these I get the following:

nslookup
> main.debian.lan
Server: 192.168.0.49
Address: 192.168.0.49#53

Name: main.debian.lan
Address: 192.168.0.50
> Server: 192.168.0.49
Address: 192.168.0.49#53

canonical name = main.debian.lan.
Name: main.debian.lan
Address: 192.168.0.50

Which shows that a canonical name (alias) for main that resolves to the same address.

we have windows boxes running DNS, where can I grab this data for you?
