DNS entries and exchange

Our GC server is also a secondary DNS server. Will exchange look for that DNs server as its primary since its the GC or will it look at the first DNS server listed on the DNS page?

I have been getting quite a few "Unable to bind to destination serber in DNS" lately and I am trying to find out how exchange goes about looking for DNS names.
