Hi,

Hope someone will provide a solution, as this is very important to us for sending emails. I have set up the PTR records in the in-addr.arpa zone for our domains. When you request the reverse lookup outside of our network, the DNS wouldn't return the IP for you. It appears that no PTR records in in-addr.arpa zone, but I am sure that I have set it up, because it returns fine internally. Now, I wonder if I missed anything. Please advise.

If it returns PTR records internally, but not from externally I would think the internet may not know your nameservers are authoritative for the netblock.

will let you look up who your authoritative nameservers are for your IP netblock.

When we used Cable & Wireless for backbone they would not automatically make us authoritative for our netblock, it was something we always had to request after they gave us a new netblock.
