Hello,

Is it possible to have DNS entries have different IPs based on the location a user is in?

Example:

User's IP address 192.168.1.5; DNS server 192.168.1.2; server1.domain.com resolves to 192.168.1.10

User's IP address 192.168.2.5; DNS server 192.168.2.2; server1.domain.com resolves to 192.168.2.10

Using AD integrated DNS.

Thanks

Jeremy

windows does this by default when a name has multiple ip addresses it returns the best or closest match. I can't check it atm as i am nowhere near a server but off memory i think the term is netmask ordering which is one of the tick boxes in the dns options.

DFS is the best example of this tech in use.

I'm trying to publish printers via DNS so I don't ever have to update server names. DFS rocks! Wish DFS for printers existed.

I'll check it out, netmask ordering.

Thanks again,

Jeremy
