I am currently running a DNS server with a primary NS running at ns1.myserver.com.. This server is hosting as well.. However I would like to host another domain on this system; i.e. What would be the best path to add a dns record for this domain? I have tried but it doesn't seem to work becasue when I type it just hangs.. Any help would be appreciated..

First off, if this is to be accessible via the internet, then you need to have the COM servers (or your ISP) register your nameserver as the authority for myserver2.com. Then, in your DNS manager, you create another Forward Lookup Zone of Standard Primary type called "myserver2.com". Under that, you enter the appropriate host names...

you have to add ns1.yourdnsserver.com to your the websites record at verisign or wherever you registered it.

We have 2 servers, NW312 and W2K and 20 workstations Win '95 and W2K-Pro. Our network is still coax but with 20 users and no real network intensive apps running we will only upgrade to Cat5 in future. We have a repeater or two on the network. The problem that I have is that copying to and from the NW server is about 99% faster than to and from the W2K server. The W2K server is equipped with 1Gb of ram and ample storage space in contrast with the NW server 96Mb of ram. I have checked and installed DNS about 100 times, checked protocol stacks with TCP at the top but nothing seems to work, network cabling etc etc OK.... I know that NW will give a overall beter network performance but with copy times more than 99% faster is impossible to believe. Anyone encountered this before, any advise? Thanx

Well, you have a bottleneck somewhere, start with the hard-drives. How fast are the drives on the 2k server?
