Hi,

I'm a newbie, and sorry in advance for the dumb question...

I have installed Win 2000 Server, IIS works fine but one thing - I can only get to the server by its IP address.
I know the problem is within the DNS configuration. I tried to play with this a little bit, tried the Help of Microsoft but this thing wouldn't work for me...

What should I do? can someone give me a How To article or something... I need it for now to a small intranet network but it is planned to be converted to a (next week...).

Thanks a lot!

Set up DNS for your server
(for example for domain mydomain.com)
Add a host record
www
and point the IP address of the server IIS is running on to this host

Try to ping If this works,
go to the properties of your website, go to the 'website' tab, click advanced

In the 'multiple identities for this website' list, choose the first entry, click 'edit' and in the host header name field, fill in:
Click OK to save
Now you should be able to access your website using Peter Van Eeckhoutte
