Hello,

I recently added a 2003 Server to our 2000 domain, installed DNS, and then promoted it to dc and moved the DHCP datbase over onto it.

Im wondering though if I am my DNS entries set up in the TCP/IP properties box or not. The first to servers where here before I started, and I should point out that I do not appear to have any DNS issues. I just want to make sure the DNS on the new server is right (I dont think it is).
We have AD- integrated DNS.

So this is what I have;

Computer1 Pref DNS (Points to itself), Alt DNS Computer2.

Computer2 Pref DNS Computer1, Alt DNS (points to itself)

Computer3 Pref DNS Computer1, Alt DNS has no entry.

I know I should have an entry in the Alt DNS on computer3, and should I make it point to itself for that, or should it be something else?

Eventually I will add a 4th machine which will be a 2003 DC running DNS and I will be demoting the computers 1 and 2 and taking DNS off.

Any help is much appreciated as always.
Regards,
D.

Add either computer 1 or 2 as the alternate DNS entry on server 3 would be my only change. Apart from that it looks Ok to me.

Thanks for the quick response, Paul. And I'll have read as well.
