Can I bring up 2 Primary DNSs in the same domain?
I want to run BIND9 on AIX and use it for NetView and CiscoWorks only. We are also running Microsoft's DNS/DHCP/WINS on 2 other Primary and Secondary DNSs.
I am planning to remove all of the Network equipment (routes, hubs and switches) from the corporate DNS that is integrated with DHCP and WINS and put them in BIND on my AIX box.
I do not want to run a secondary because I don't want any zone transfers. (I don't want all the servers and DHCP workstations)

Thanks
Don Davis

Sure it's possible, but you run into the question of "which one do I use" from one action to the next. Machines who have their name/IP in one DNS won't be resolvable by machines from the "other" DNS.

You might consider creating a subdomain off your main one, and making your "second primary" authoritative for that subdomain.
