we have been having problems with users dropping their connections to our 2003 server intermittently. we have the server providing the DNS and the router with DHCP.

I have been trying to investigate why and was told to try using the dig command in the DNS part of the server.

I typed in dig 192.168.0.19 (my machine) from the server for example and get the following

Server : [192.168.0.19]
Address : 192.168.0.19

DNS request timed out

does this indicate and error with the DNS server?

The problems do not happen to all the client machines at the same time so it is not like the router is failing...it is just some users cannot access network drives or internet at different times throughout the day.
