DNS - Active Directory - BIND questions

Ok, here's the situation. I need to introduce a new MS Active Directory infrastructure into an existing network which uses BIND 9.x for DNS. The current namespace is "company.net" and I want to create set up AD in the "corp.company.net" namespace.

I would also like to have MS DNS (Active Directory Integrated) be the primary DNS for the "corp.company.net" namespace and have BIND remain the primary DNS server for the "company.net" namespace. All Windows based clients and servers will moved to the "corp.company.net" namespace.

It seems fairly simple in my head but I have never tackled a unix+windows install so I have to ask questions. Im sure I will need to provide more information but I start with this. A huge thanks to anyone who can point me in the right direction.

Seeing that you plan to use a different DNS namespace for AD, makes things a little easier. Setup AD and your new DNS servers for corp.company.net. Configure your new Windows DNS servers with a conditional forwarder, to forward requests for company.net to those DNS servers. You will need to figure out if your company.net DNS servers will need to resolve corp.company.net records. I'm thinking they might not.

Koonan, I like your idea and in fact please correct me if I am wrong. But, would you not get an error when setting up a conditional forwarder since this part, Company.net, shares the same namespace?

No it should work, because each namespace is different/unique and has it's own SOA records. Here's a link that shows some examples.

Take a look at this link. This is what I was referring too... I think there still is an issue if the name space is the same.
