DNA Modem Connection Settings

Hi,

I am trying to connect to a remote site using DNA’s MD Support Utility. The internal modem works OK with Winfiol. The settings in Node Setup are all OK… I hope. What settings are needed in the Communications Settings dialog?

When attempting to connect to a site I get… ‘OK… OK…’ The status bar says ‘Waiting for MD110 response’. I then ‘Error Initializing Modem’, and ‘ATZ’. The modem never gets dial tone or dials any thing!

What modem do you have at the remote end? DNA cannot connect through a tracker modem because of the password prompt. A normal modem should work fine, I've never had any problems with it.

Thanks, not sure what modem, as I do not have access to the 'remote' site. I know it's not a tracker; I connect to the modem using Winfiol and logon the usual way (SSSSS; user name; password without problems. The modem is directly connected to a V24 port on the NIU.

In the DNA ‘Communications Setup’ dialog box do you have to change the default values for the Modem Setup; Dial = ‘ATD’ and Hang Up = ‘+++ATH’ These commands work OK… when testing using HyperTerminal,

MD Support still has problems. The feedback window appears to give modem responses ‘OK’ ‘and ‘ATZ’ when it’s given up, but it does attempt to dial.

As I am the owner of Isinor's remote site I can tell that the modem is a USRobotics 56k Faxmodem. Quite Standard.
Just now it is however disconnected.

what are the settings do you have ?
what are they set to at the moment?

Just next to where you select connection type there is a pulldown menu saying remote modem number . Should this be empty ? I have defined the modemnumber as suffix.

can you tell me exactly what settings descriptions etc
and what they are set to.

be as in-depth as you want !

What DNA you running ?

failing that I'll need to install DNA on the win2k partition on my PC and try it. (not done that before but assum it will work)

I got it working , it seemed that I forgot to include modemnumber in the nodesetup.
However I discovered that if using the modem initialization string sent to me from the modem vendor (COM 1 MC220 PCMCIA card) it did not work.
When using the default string in DNA it was all OK.
