I've got a customer with a Norstar and a 2 port Flash voicemail who now wants/has ordered copper DIDs. They would like their 4 digit extensions to be the same as the 4 digit DID number/block they purchased. However, currently their extensions are 2xxx and their DIDs are going to be
(xxx)xxx-4xxx. What would be the best thing to do, **startup and go from scratch or can I do a change DN? If I do a change DN does that also change the vm programming? Not sure which way to go on this, I'm sure someone has had to do this before?

you can do the change dn, and change extentions in voicemail.

I would reinstall vm and **startup. sounds like you've gotta do a lot of programing anyway for the DID's.

It's really up to you. I have no fear reprogramming from scratch, especially if my account. I would do a Ftr**startup. You could manually renumber also. Depends on how many DNs, as compared to how much in depth programming.

As long as Vmail is 4 digits now, a Reinstall is not required. Just delete every Mbox and rebuild. I would not reccomend leaving Mbox as 2xxx and just changing the ext.#, but it is an option.

When we do a system like that we always match the the DN and the Mailbox with the DID number. If the DN does not have a DID we leave the DN default.( usually 22xx) That way its easier to keep track who has DIDs.

I agree with endlesswinter. Change DN the ext's, and reinstall vm. That way Bob the President doesn't lose all his external autodial buttons, etc...
