DMZ public or private address range?

whats the reasoning behind having public ip address or private ip address on DMZ hosts. various exmaples on the internet show desgins with either of the 2. Wouldn't it be better to have private range on he dmz and have PAT enabled on the firewall?

I prefer to NAT/PAT personally.

Technically it doesn't matter. You could conserve your public addresses by using private ones wherever possible.
