Can anyone provide me with arguments to choose for a DMR solution above a Powerplay. Naturally i found out for my self that not using tranformer means you don't have to buy a transformer. And DMR is enabling real time analysis is also obvious. But is there any other arguments. I'm would like to hear your opinions

Thanks in advance

I developped a DMR model during a mission and it seems it can be used like a cube in Analysis/Report Studio.

-- Framework DMR modelisation functionalities are less advanced than Transformer. Some basics functionalities such as "default sorting for members in a hierarchy" are not avaible (even with an order by in the underlying relational query), which is quite frustrating. It seems that the technology is not mature yet.

- As far as performance is concerned, DMR seems to work a little bit slower than cubes.

+ DMR offers real time analysis and is not restricted as far as volumetry is concerned.

++ The security applied on the relational model is inherited in the dimensional model, which is a really big bonus!!

You should think in terms of using the proper solution to the reporting needs. If you have a fixed monthly reporting demand (no ad-hoc issue) then use a real cube may the best way to go. Performance should be optimal. Using DMR will still involve executing underlying queries which will be executed (partially anyway) each time you run a report. Performance may therefor be MUCH slower. But you can still choose to build something on the fly without having to build a one-off Cube to work with..
