Greetings All:

Is there a difference between a DLT8000 and a DLT 80 drive? With the "aborbsion" of Compaq by HP the situation is a bit blurred. The specs seem to be the same, but I'm looking for a 40/80G drive that will work with OpenVMS.

I've also hear that an HP surestore DLT8000 is just a re-labled Quantum unit.

Thanks

Pretty much all the DLT8000 are rebadged Quantum units - certainly the CPQ/HP ones are (if you dare to peel back the official Compaq/HP sticker of course)

QuiltedCamel is right - All the different flavours of DLT are actually rebaged Quantum drives. The only other manufacturer of DLT Technology is Tandberg whom i dont believe OEM to vendors.

Anyway back to the original question: Yes the HP Surestore 80 is exactly the same as a regular Quantum DLT8000.
